Moderated by Janelle, this roundtable discussion brings together key voices in sustainability, governance, and marine exploration. Panelists include Richard Berman, Sustainability Lead for the Port of San Francisco; Richmond Mayor Eduardo Martinez; Seamus Murphy, Executive Director of the San Francisco Bay Ferry; and Liz Taylor, President of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research (DOER Marine) in Alameda.

The conversation will examine the many dimensions of protection and safety—how they differ for the Coast Guard and Navy compared to marine biologists and climate scientists. We’ll also consider the preservation efforts of Mission Blue, a nonprofit dedicated to safeguarding marine ecosystems, alongside the perspectives of BlueTech companies and investors who view the ocean as both an ecological treasure and a commercial frontier. Even in today’s charged political climate, we will explore how best practices can drive meaningful progress.
